I've never read an unflattering story about Spassky. There are also a couple anecdotes about his being a friend to Fischer who could actually take Bobby in hand. Now, THAT'S an accomplishment. A well-rounded individual who didn't allow the game to sour his personality, he shouldn't have been so magnanimous in the face of Fischer's shenanigans in '72. He should have left Reykjavik and simply kept his title
