Aron Nimzowitsch was born on this day, 7 November, in 1886.
The height of Nimzowitsch's career was the late 1920s and early 1930s when he compared with Alexander Alekhine and José Capablanca. However, he is mostly remembered for his impact on chess development. His hypermodern ideas went against generalizations of Tarrasch and influenced many generations ahead. Nimzowitsch wrote three books on chess strategy, including ‘My System’ which is one of the most famous chess books ever written.
